YEAR THREE
Course Overview
This course builds on the foundation established in your first and second years of study, with a strong focus on advanced pastoral ministry and chaplaincy practice. Areas of study include pastoral theology, chaplaincy frameworks, biblical studies, and church planting.
By the end of your third year at iSEE COLLEGE, you can expect to have:
Developed advanced pastoral care skills for supporting individuals and communities in real-world ministry settings
Gained practical training and theological insight for chaplaincy roles within and beyond the local Church
Gained practical insight into the foundations of church planting, equipping you to advance the local Church
Course prerequisites: Completion of a Diploma of Leadership and Associates Degree in Ministry (First & Second Year) or equivalent.
Weekly contact hours are approx. 8 hours onsite (Monday). Part-time options are available, please refer to our Prospectus for more information.

Subject Outlines
Intro to Pastoral Theology & Ministry
Learn the basics of pastoral ministry in the local church setting. This unit includes elements of both theory and practice, and guest lectures from the Planetshakers Pastoral team. Students will learn the structures, processes, strategies, and philosophy of ministry necessary for 21st century pastoral ministry in a growing Church, and will be invited to reflect on their own emerging ministry practice. This unit provides a solid foundation for vocational ministry.

Johannine Literature
In this unit we look at John’s gospel and the three Johannine epistles, where we receive an intimate perspective on the life of Christ and its personal impact on our lives. Within the fourth gospel we find some of the most profound theological statements concerning the person of Christ. The opening chapters tell of the logos, the Word who became flesh, God among us. These bold statements are echoed in the words of Jesus Himself, proclaiming His divinity with the“I Am” statements.

Capstone Unit (Pastoral Care & Chaplaincy)
This unit will allow students to explore a ministry topic of their choosing. With support from College staff, students create an initiative to cause a positive impact on their society, through their chosen ministry. Students will endeavour that this projects have lasting changes, that go beyond their degree.

Book of Revelation
The book of Revelation is considered to be one of the most interesting yet confusing books of the Bible. In this subject, students will learn the various perspectives on the book of Revelation, and be equipped to form their own understanding.

Becoming a Chaplain
This unit will equip Ministry major students to enter the field of Chaplaincy, providing contemporary theories, skills and practical experience to face the unique dilemmas, challenges, and opportunities faced by chaplains in a wide range of situations.

Pastoral and Spiritual Care
This unit goes through the fundamental skills that are needed when providing pastoral care in a chaplaincy context. A very practical unit, students learn how to best tackle different situations so that they can see breakthrough and freedom when ministering to people in and out of the Church.

Mental Health Response
The topic of Mental Health is one that is brought up in all forums and settings. This unit will equip students with strategies and skills to treat people with Mental Health Conditions, and to teach people how to be mentally strong. Students will also learn the effects of poor mental health, and to resource or refer people as needed.

Foundations of Church Planting
This subject aims to teach students the essential skills and tools necessary for church planting ministry. Beginning with the New Testament Church, students will learn how church planting has changed over time, which skills are to be maintained, and what initiatives are needed to build the church today. Topics will cover historical church planting, characteristics of a pioneer, and a faith building deep dive into significant moves of God.
